At The Mind Med Clinic, we provide specialist mental health assessments via telehealth. This eliminates the necessity to travel, saves time and travelling costs, and you have the luxury of having your psychiatrist assessment done at the privacy of your own home or your familiar GP Practice. All you require is a stable internet connection which can handle audio-visual calls. For your convenience we use a variety of different software’s such as Skype, WhatsApp, Facetime, Zoom which most of you may be already familiar with. If you were not familiar with these, our friendly staff will assist you and explain the process.

The Referral process is simple and streamlined.

Your GP sends the referral to us by uploading it to our website, emailing or faxing it to us.

Our friendly administrative service will review the referrals and if appropriate make a booking on the psychiatrists calendar.

They will then advise you of the appointment details by phone or text including timing and the particular psychiatrist’s preferred telehealth format. Please allow 60 minutes for an initial consult and 30 minutes for a follow up consult. A deposit will be taken at the first booking- see payment details below

At the assigned time, the psychiatrist will make a video call to you for the consultation for which you will need a smart phone or computer. Please ensure you are indoors and have clear audio and video reception for the review.

For your convenience we have established a variety of payment options to choose from such as by credit card, Ezidebit or direct deposit. You can also make a booking for the follow up review by speaking to our administrative team.

Few Useful Tips

1
If you have had previous mental health assessments, admissions, treatments or other health conditions it would be helpful to make them available to us (which we will treat confidentially as per our privacy policy) at the earliest convenience as this would help arriving at a more accurate diagnosis early and provide tailored treatment options.

2
Mental Health assessments sometimes may involve discussing sensitive information. Therefore, please ensure that on the day of the assessment you have a setting where you will have adequate privacy.

3
Should you wish to have a support person you may involve them in the assessment. Please inform our team prior to the assessment.

4
If you usually wear hearing aids, glasses please wear them during the assessment.

5
If you are unsure of the stability of your internet connection, consider asking your GP regarding any facilities they may provide. Many GP centres provide such facilities at the GP centre which you could prebook. You could also consider using your smart phone should your mobile data and connection strength permits this. Also consider wearing headphones/earbuds as they may improve the quality of the assessment significantly.

6
It is advisable to provide a secondary contact method such as a mobile phone number which you will have with you on the day of the assessment, as a backup option, should there be any technical problems.
